About Us

Gathered Bean began long before it had a name.

It started quietly — in kitchens, courtyards, and markets far from home. It wasn’t created with the intention of building a coffee company. What mattered, always, was understanding people. Travel was driven by curiosity. Time was spent in places because someone made room at their table.

No matter the location mornings followed the same pattern: a small cup, a practiced ritual, a familiar warmth that belonged to that place and its people.

Coffee was never the point.
But it became the way in.

It became clear that every region grows coffee like a fingerprint — shaped by altitude, soil, weather, and the hands that tend it. But the deeper truth was this: each cup carried the story of a community. A village that depended on the harvest. A family that passed down techniques. A local roaster who paid attention to the smallest detail because it mattered.

Over years of travel, notebooks were filled — not with monuments, but with the people behind the beans. Growers who knew the land better than any mapmaker. Roasters who talked about balance like musicians. Café owners who treated their shops as cultural crossroads.

Coffees were brought home — single-origin bags tucked between clothes in a suitcase. Friends would ask, “Where did you find this?” and the answer was always a story: a farmer with a quiet laugh in Ethiopia, a cooperative run by women in Guatemala, a tiny roastery in Kyoto with cooling trays that smelled like citrus and smoke.

These were the beans that were gathered.
Not for commerce.
For connection

Over time, one realization became clear: most people would never have the chance to experience these coffees, or the stories that gave them life. Not because they didn’t care, but because global variety is complicated — sourcing, roasting, profiling, logistics, culture, ethics. All of it requires time and relationships.

Gathered Bean was created as a bridge — a way to share the world’s coffees with people who care about where things come from and appreciate the quiet rituals that connect us.

What Gathered Bean Stands For:

Gathered Bean curates a rotating collection of coffees from across the globe — not the trendy ones, not the marketed ones, but the ones that represent the soul of a region. Every bag has a story, not a marketing angle. Every origin is sourced through real partnerships, not brokers.

We don’t sell “variety.”
We share perspective.

Each month’s selection is built around the way coffee is traditionally enjoyed in that region — slow, present, and connected to the people behind it.

Gathered Bean is for the person who wants a morning cup that feels like it came from somewhere real.

For the curious.
For the thoughtful.
For those who know that flavor is shaped by history, climate, culture, and conversation.

Our Promise:

Every bag we send is a passport stamped with craft, care, and truth. Gathered Bean is not about volume. It is about the meaningful many — the diverse, honest expressions of coffee as it lives in the world.

This is the world as it was discovered:
one cup at a time,
one story at a time,
one gathered bean at a time.
